Ice maker appears to making ice but it is not empting the ice into the ice bin. The machine is making a sound like it is trying to 'empty' the ice. Could this a problem with the gears in ice maker, over freezing, or is there some other 'common' problem?

The problem could be a bad ejector, a bad mold heater or a bad motor. In any case I would recommend to replace the whole ice maker.

- The part number for the ice maker is AP2984633

Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid refrigerator Model KTRC22EKBT01

Gene,

Thanks for the feedback. Is the installation of the new icemaker pretty straight forward? In addition to the wiring harness, are there any other disconnections/connections, i.e. water?

Just the wiring harness and two or three screws.
