What is the duty of a water selonoid and exactly where is it located?

Water solenoid 101
Depending on your model the water solenoid may be a single or double model. The single water solenoid supplys the ice maker. The double water solenoid supply's the ice maker on one side and water in the door on the other side. The water solenoid is located on the rear bottom of the ice box. It has a water supply line attached to it from the home.
