My refrigerator died. Is it fixable?
Model Number: MBV1976AAB Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
I recently have been having trouble with my Maytag Skybox Vendor Beverage Dispenser. The model number is MBV1976AAB. Recently, I noticed that the beverages were no longer getting cold. I decided to change all of the start components which include the start relay, the overload protector and the start capacitor.
The 'new' start relay part number is 61005504.
Here is a picture of it: http://www.************************....&PartID=894643
The overload protector part number is: 2162218
Here is the picture of it: http://www.************************....2162218-%3d%3d
The start capacitor part number is 8182473. No picture is available.
After hooking up the components, the compressor still 'buzzed' and was very warm to touch. The overload protector was connected to 'com' on the compressor and the start relay was connected to 'start' and run' on the compressor. The frig was still not cooling. I then realized that I never bridged a wire from the start relay directly to the overload device. I did just that last night and turned on the frig again. This time a buzzing sound was appreciated followed by a 'click' coming from the overload device. I thought this was a good thing and let it run all night.
This morning after checking out the frig. the SkyBox Dispenser was completely dead. No lights, fan running, no dispensing, no humming, no buzzing, no nothing.
Does this mean I completely ruined my refrigerator for good?
Also, was I supposed to connect the start relay directly to the overload protector with a wire even though they were both connected separately to the compressor?
I was told to connect the two starting components with a wire, but did I place that wire on the wrong terminals of the overload and start components?
Please help. I would really appreciate it
