Default Help with Magic Chef Freezer please
Brand: Magic Chef   Age: 1 - 5 years

I am not sure of where to find the model number or the exact age. I hear the refridgerator run and the freezer run but it is not making ice cubes. I also have noticed in the last few weeks that the ice cream is mushy. The meat etc is still frozen but the it looks like the ice cream may get almost to thaw and possibly refreeze. Do I need to call a repair person? Is there anything I can look for myself? THanks so much.

Nancy

Nancy,

If there is frost in the back of the freezer?

Remove the back cover, clean the condenser coil and check the fan next to the condenser coil.

Click here to find the model number.

Gene.

Default model number

Hi Gene,
Having trouble trying to post reply. The model number is RC22kN3AW and there is no frost on the back of the freezer and the coil is clean and the fan is running. Anything else we can check?

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Looks like the sealed system is low on Freon or the compressor has a low capacity. It has to be diagnosed by a certified technician and repair is going to be expensive.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Magic Chef refrigerator Model RC22KN-3AW

Gene.
