frigidaire condenser fan rubs
Model Number: frs3r4ewf Brand: Frigidaire Age: Less than 1 year
Hi,
I had a repair guy come out and he said I needed a condenser fan motor replaced and it would cost over $300 bucks. He was nice enough to explain how to replace it and tell me where I could buy the part for $45.
Well, I can switch the new condenser fan motor in, but it sits in a rectangular plastic frame and the weight of the motor causes causes the fan blade not to be aligned and rubbed. There are basically two hard plastic straps that hold the motor onto the frame. I think I have the motor in the frame properly with the bulk of the motor facing towards the back of the frig. I really have to just play with it a lot to try to get the fan blade aligned. The way the motor sits, its almost impossible to keep the blade in place. If I install it with the motor facing the front, the blade seems to align better, but then the motor sticks out into the frig and the metal covering can't get screwed closed and will rub against the motor.
I'm trying to make sure I'm putting the plastic frame and motor in the right way and also how can I get the stinkin fan blade to stay aligned???
Thanks for any help!
Mike
