I have an older fridge/freezer that seems to be working ok except that the ice cream is melting. I do not have a manual. There does not seem to be a control for the freezer, only the fridge. Any ideas? Thanks

sounds like it could be leaking freon or have a compressor problem - open the freezer door and remove the screws on the back wall of the freezer and peel the metal casing away so you can see behind it... find the metal coils that the freon flows through and make sure they are frosted up ok - if only part of that coil is frosted then freon is leaking or the compressor is bad.

Also if the evaporator coils are frosted/iced up to the point where the evaporator fan cannot pull air through them you may have a defrost problem.
