I have a GE - GSS25KGMK Side by side referigerator and have been having a problem for the last 2 weeks. Everything will be working fine until it appears like the freezer cooling stops. It will start to thaw out. I have noticed it twice. Once I lost everything, the other time I caught it before it thawed and moved to another freezer. The weird part is after it completely thaws, you can turn the freezer to the highest setting and it will "restart" and work fine for about a week, then the problem will re-appear in about a week (or at least it did this time). I am guessing the temperature sensor, but not sure.

You might have compressor problems, measure the back freezer wall temperature and post.

Someone is borrowing my infrared temperature guage right now, but I did get a decent measure with a probe. The freezer fluctuates between about 15 and 25 degrees (F). The back wall of the freezer was at 28 degrees (F). The test conditions were that the freezer was cooling and had been on for a few minutes. The air temperature was 24 degrees when I started the test. The other walls appear to be similiar temperature to the back wall.

Something else of note: There was a power failure (about 1 second) prior to both these events. I discounted this because I power cycled the refrigerator (unplugged for 10 minutes) after the second event while it was thawing and it didn't restart immediately after being plugged back in. It took it several hours before it restarted.

If you need a better temperature reading on the back wall, let me know and I will confirm when I get my infrared back tomorrow.

Pull the back panel off the freezer and check the frost pattern. Probably only partially frosted over. Post results, you may have refrigeration problems.

Picture is worth a thousand words see attached. It appears the bottom is more frosted than the top.

Yes, get a pro. in, you have refrigeration problems that a clogged condenser would not cause, unless your condensing fan is bad. I would suspect an evaporator leak: very expensive to fix.
