My maytag frig has developed a buzzing and then a click sound. It cools and freezes fine. It seems to do it at the same time every day. Goes on
for about half an hour. I thought that it seems like the defrost timer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Here are the parts

You do not have a defrost timer, defrost is controlled from the main control board.

It could be the defrost relay on the board buzzing.

Could be the evaporator defrost heater vibrating and then the click may be the defrost thermostat opening.

Would that be pn AP4366538? I see that it shows the location as behind the temp controls. Since the noise comes from under the frig, would that
relay control the t-stat under the frig?

Yes

No.
You will have to pull the fridge out and try to isolate the noise.
The heater and the defrost heater thermostat are down there but the are inside the freezer compartment.

There is a start relay on your compressor but your compressors etc. seems to be running OK.

Here are a couple good sites withe fridge info

The noise is coming from underneath the frig near the front.

Well I'm stumped

All I can think of is that perhaps the condenser coils are vibrating. Remove the kick plate ans see if you can gently push down on the coils to see if the noise stops.

Only other thing I can think of is the water valve is buzzing and resonates so thet it sound like it is coming from the front.

the part that is buzzing looks like it is plugged into the compressor. it continues to cool fine. it does not buzz everytime the comp kicks on
