Model Number: GSL25JFTCBS Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
I have a model number GSL25JFTCBS. I called a technician out for poor cooling. It turned out that the defrost system was not working properly and the evap was icing over. The guy put a board in it. It seemed to work for a month or maybe i just didn't notice for a while but he came back two weeks ago a put another board in it. We jsut got back from vacation and i noticed frost on the freezer wall again. I took the panel off and sure enough the evap is completely encased in frost again. Not solid ice yet but will be soon. Should I call the same guy back or get a second opinion? Does not seem that there would be two bad boards out of the box. Any advice would be appreciated.

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for GSL25JFTCBS models | AppliancePartsPros.com Not solid ice yet but will be soon. Should I call the same guy back or get a second opinion? Well I can give a second opinion. Sounds like something has gone intermittent. The most likely culprit is the defrost thermostat. Item 240 in Section 3. Often but not always you can see the problem. If it is bulged out at all it definitely needs replacing. If not bulged I would still replace it. I would also check the connections in the freezer perhaps one of them has gone bad. Not a bad idea to check the heater with a meter, you never know maybe it has blown so that you see the same symptoms but the cause has changed. I would also replace the sensor in the freezer if your unit has one, just because it is cheap and opening/closing the evaporator is a pain. Does not seem that there would be two bad boards out of the box. Yes this is very unlikely.
