Default Ge Water Valve
Model Number: tbx21cibrrww   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Where is, and how do you replace, the water valve on this refridgerator? Also, can you recommend a water filter that would be very easy to install?

The water valve (#800 on the #2 break down diagram) is located behind the back cover on the right side.

This part is not too difficult to replace yourself - just a screw and a couple nuts. Do not forget to turn off the water to the fridge first.

I would recommend one of most reliable in-line water filter which can help to eliminate odor and scale and improve taste of water. It comes with the braided stainless steel over nylon reinforced vinyl hose and brass fittings and is pretty simple to install.

- The part number for the water valve is AP3189335

- The part number for the in-line water filter installation kit is AP3397812

Here are the break down diagrams for the GE refrigerator Model TBX21CIBRRWW

Default Water leak (GE Profiler - TPS24BPCG)

Gene,

Same water leak issue. GE Profiler (TPS24BPCG).
Considerable water leak led to good size kitchen/dining repair work.
Leak source looks to be faulty bracket & valve assembly (confirmed by insurance plumber). Part number (app AP2071734, GE #WR57X10022).

As you said, the new part is easy to install; a couple of screws, plug in electrical harness, and transfer the 4 water tubes from old to new.

Problem is water still leaks from new bracket. Specifically from the gray & orange lines (see picture under part number).

Question is should I have cut off 1-2" of tubing before re-inserting into new bracket? Or, is there some other plumbing trick?

Thanks,
M.

It's always a good idea to cut off about 1/2" of the tube before plug it in. Also I would recommend to check these tubes for a small crack(s).
