Default Lights on but no cold air is home (:
Model Number: ED2FTGXKQ03   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

Side by side, Whirlpool Fridge has worked perfectly for almost 5 years - till last night...The thermostat appeared to be going off frequently, it must have clicked about every 1 to 2 minutes. We checked it and it appeared everything was cool. Went to get a soda about 3 or 4 hours later and noticed it the air was about room temperature, the freezer was also warming up and items were thawing.

I am guessing the thermostat .. but I really have no clue about these things.. HELP Please!

Remove the rear cover. Remove the start device (#18 on the unit break down diagram) from the compressor and shake it. If it makes a rattling noise - replace the start device.

Possible the compressor itself is bad and has to be replaced. In that case it has to be done by a certified tech and maybe it's better to buy a new fridge due to high cost of repair.

- The part number for the start device is AP3696670

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool refrigerator Model ED2FTGXKQ03

Thank you so much Gene, I hope it is only the start device ...

Appreciate the response!
