Default Need tips on replacing the icemaker auger!
Brand: GE   Age: Less than 1 year

The plastic blade on the auger in the icemaker started cracking, so I ordered a new auger from you. We just received our replacement auger (AP3672963) and I began taking the icemaker apart so that I could replace the cracked auger. I can't get the stupid thing out!! Any tips on how to replace it?

Turn over the ice bucket and ice dispenser cover. Remove the Phillips screw.

Remove the cover.

Remove the Phillips screw for the ice cube control linkage and slide the linkage to the rear of the ice bucket.

Using a pair of pliers, break the tabs off the back cover.

Using 2 flat blade screwdrivers, disengage the locking tabs at either side of the ice crusher and remove the assembly

Slide the back cover off the auger. The back cover must be replaced because of tabs broken off for disassembly.

With a flat-head screwdriver, remove the C-clip from the end of the auger.

Remove the auger and ice crusher blade assembly.

Gene.
