Default Replacing Sears Refrigerator Door Handles
Model Number: 106.9537614   Brand: Sears   Age: More than 10 years

I have refrigerator door handles that I would like to replace. The attachment shows a bolt (30) attaching a bracket (29) to the handle to the door frame. However, the second page of the attachment shows a chrome bracket which appears to be fastened from a bolt coming from the inside of the door.

If that is true, I need some ideas on how to remove the shelving on the inside of the door in order to get to the bolt that holds the chrome bracket covering the door handle.

Looks to me that the door handle mounting screw is covered with the door trim (#35 or #42) and the end cap (#29) just snaps on.

If this is not right and the screw is going from inside the door, I would recommend to forget about the new door handle. This fridge looks very old and the plastic door liner, most likely, is in bad condition.

Gene.

I wish it was that simple. If you look at the second picture, you can see four screw holes. The one on the left is for the screw that comes from inside the fridge and holds the cap. Only way to do this is to remove the door liner.

Thanks for responding.
