Refrigerator got warm over 3 to 4 days, no cool airflow felt topside in frige
Freezer Cold, and a bit of frost inside on the rear cover.
Fan running fine below in freezer. Removed rear cover in freezer, and found evap coils completely frozen.
I need help in how to properly diagnose the defrost system...
I Am Literate using Test Equipment...
I just need to be pointed in a logical direction from here

Once all the ice or frost is melted away from the heater(s) check them for continuity - most of the time the heaters will be visibly damaged (if so replace them) and i usually replace the defrost thermostat as well but the timer could be bad as well - if the heaters test out ok then find the defrost timer and in the middle of it should be a small round hole which has a gear you can manually turn with a flathead screwdriver - advance the timer until it puts the fridge into defrost (fan in freezer will stop when fridge is in defrost) and if it never goes into defrost then its safe to say bad timer

You just got bad advice, your fridg has a motherboard in the back AP4297272
Remove the cover and locate the three pin power connector, unplug fridg and remove the connector. Put a wire jumper between the mating pins labled defr. and line as marked on the pc board.
If it defrosts, you have a bad motherboard. If not, you probably have a bad defrost heater.

I apologize, wasnt intending on giving bad advice, just advising to the best of my ability. If any of you notice something off in any of my posts just let me/thread starter know but i stand by my steam cleaner suggestion for defrost problems! lol. melts ice veeery quickly with very little extra water going into drip pan which will most likely overflow in any case.

Hi, and thanks for the good info on this defrost dilemma.
Fridge worked for abt. 2 weeks, froze up again.
Read your helpful post, defrost element, and wiring to-from good
Defrosts when jumpered.
Took out motherboard, looked for cold solder joints,etc.
did pin-out on defrost relay
relay powers up w/12VDC, and ON resistance for the output contacts is less than .18ohm (subtracting for the test lead resistance)
My question now is are there any other outside sensor in-outs that could still be bad, or is this most likely a bad Motherboard at this point????

You have a bad motherboard,just order it on this site.
