Model Number: Frigidaire FRT18NNC Brand: Frigidaire Age: More than 10 years
Yesterday the freezer portion of my refrigerator started blowing warm air. I took most of the food out of the freezer and left a few items such as a few ice trays. Last night before bed the ice trays started to freeze and I thought that the freezer may have been overloaded and that the problem was fixed but this morning the ice trays were starting to melt again. The fans are running as they should. I was getting a few drops of water on the floor in front of the fridge and it seems to be dropping from the door of the freezer. Is there anything that I can do to fix the issue of is it off to the store for a replacement?
The fridge came with the house purchased 2.5 years years ago. The house is ~ 14 years old and I don't know if the fridge was still from when the house was built. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Ads By Google Related Models |

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for FRT18NNC models | AppliancePartsPros.com First check to see if the compressor is running. If not then check the compressor windings and the starter. If it is running, remove the evaporator coil cover and check the coils for the frost pattern. I looked at the coils in the back of the freezer portion. Nothing is froze up...in fact nothing is even cooling. My freezer is at +10 deg C after it was running all last night. I don't know what to do. I believe that the compressor is running. The coils at the back of the fridge are warm coming out of the compressor and 1/2 way up to the top of the coil but the rest of the coil is room temperature.
Any thought? |

I hate being the bearer of bad news but it sounds like either the compressor is toast or you are out of freon.
Either one is fairly expensive as you will need a pro to do the work. At this point you may want to consider the purchase of a new unit. Even if it is just a freon leak, they have to find the leak, repair it and then refill with freon. If the leak cannot be found you are just wasting dollars. A compressor is about $300.00 plus installation costs.
