Strange buzzing noise coming from upper area
Howdy all. Been enjoying this forum reading over and finally have something to post and ask about. Not sure if that is a good thing or not lol.
Basically; we have the above mentioned fridge. I believe the other night the fresh food compartment got left ajar overnight. We don't normally keep things that have to be kept cold in it and use it as essentially a backup. What I found interesting at first was that the freezer compartment was fine but the fresh compartment was room temp, warm even.
So I unplugged it and let it air out for a good amount of time thinking maybe the coil had frozen over but plugged back in last night and the back plate of the freezer will still get cold but the evap fan would not come on to blow air to the fresh compartment. So thought that I had it narrowed down to the fan but decided to leave it unplugged overnight just to make sure that was the case. This morning I plugged it in and the fan kicked in for a short bit and then stopped all the while with the freezer getting cold so I know it cant be the compressor. What I did find odd though is there is sort of a chattering sound coming from up behind where the vents are it is a constant sound like something is trying to run but wont. Could it possibly be the air door or is that unlikely? It's been noisy like that before but never really thought much of it because it was working just fine for a second hand backup fridge.
Also; what is the likelihood that the actual evap fan motor went out? I realize there are tests you can perform and I may have to get to that but it just seems odd that it doesn't go into full force mode like it would back before yesterday.
