Model Number: pts25lhparww Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a GE model pts25lhparww. Here is a link to the diagrams: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5235406 The unit has difficulties maintain the temperature in the refrigerator. When I attempt to change the temp by pressing the buttons on the Board assembly temp control (Fresh Food Section, #424) it will just turn off. If the lock is set, it will beep at me. If I hold done the lock button for 3 seconds it will unlock and appear to be ready to let me change the temperature. But then when I try to change the temp it will just beep and turn off. Ideas? Sounds like the membrane assembly (#624 on the diagram) is bad, but there is a small chance for the temperature control board to be bad as well.
- The membrane assembly Part number: AP3796571 - The temperature control board Part number: AP3767513 Gene.

'd rather not just buy parts in a likely order until i figure out what is actually wrong. i know that the GE service manual has procedure sin it to get error codes so that I can conclusively tell whats wrong. do you have a copy of it, or can you tell me what to do to generate that code?
or is there any other workaround testing method i can do to verify which is bad? thanks doug |

Doug,
As far as I know there is no self diagnosis options for your model, unless it's listed in the tech sheet (inside the control panel). On the electronic bottom mount models, the diagnostics are performed by removing the existing temperature control board and plugging in the diagnostic aid or by accessing the main board on the back of the refrigerator and plugging into the J4 connector. You have to buy such diagnostic aid parts separately and it'll cost you more than both the new membrane and temperature control board together. Or you can call GE authorized service (not cheap too) to diagnose the problem. Gene.
