My side by side has been giving me some trouble, looking for first thing to troubleshoot.

Every so often, my fridge gets unhappy, and the display shows odd temps, like freezer at -21 and fridge at +58, but then i cycle power and temps are ok. A few times recently i have seen ice coming out of the damper (on fridge side), which i clear away, and things are okay for a while.

Last night I noticed the damper was constantly cycling open for about 10 sec, then close for about 10 sec, and repeated this for hours. I felt cold air coming out, and temps displayed looked okay, so I went to bed. I think the compressor was on for a really long time too, but I dont know what a normal cycle should be.

Today, the fridge started beeping 5 times in a row, every 30 seconds, but temps looked okay. I initiated a defrost, then after that complted, I unplugged it, opened te doors for a while, and plugged back in (based on some advice I saw for 5 beeps).

So far, things seem to be okay -- fridge is cooling back down. But this sort of thing seems to happen a lot now.

How often should damper motor be actuating once fridge is at temperature? does frequent movement indicate a problem with temp sensors, or controller?
Also, when I see nonsense temperatures displayed, is that a thermistor issue, or motherboard? I was measuring about 13.7 kOhm on both, but the service control sheet doesnt have a table.

As an aside, I noticed that my seal is torn on the fridge side, near the bottom ( the magnet side is smooth, but there is a tear on the edge between magnet and door). It seems sealed still when the door is closed, but not sure if there is like a stream of humidity or warmth or something scrwing with the controls?

Thanks for any suggestions on what to check next
