Hi,

I have a whirlpool ET20TKXBW00 top freezer/bottom fridge.

Original problem was fridge went warm. Replaced defrost thermostat. Upon replacing this the evaporator fan quit working (it had been squealing). Installed new fan and unit cooled down to 42 degrees. Unit then had defrost timer that was getting stuck. Replaced defrost timer. Timer does operate operate properly now. Heater does work. Compressor and compressor fan do work.

The problem with the evaporator fan is that it is running slowly. If I take the back panel off it will speed up to fast speed. Then run properly for a while (30 min to hours) and then slow back down. Air flow is good while it is running fast. It has cooled down overnight when running fast to 36 degrees. Manual damper is all the way open. I have unplugged unit overnight and plugged back in to make sure there isn't any vent blockage from ice. Return vents do not have ice blockage in the refrigerator compartment.

With this erratic fan speed I replaced the evaporator fan with a new one and same problem exists.

Since there isn't a board on this model. It doesn't appear to be a voltage issue as the fan goes from slow to fast just by removing the back panel.

Any advice?
Thanks, Neil
