Hello,
I have noticed that this fridge runs for about 20 minutes and then shuts off for about 15 to 20 minutes and then back on. This probably repeats for the entire day. I have replaced the evaporator motor, and the defrost coil because both of these hand gone bad. When the evaporator motor went bad I accidentally discovered a short in the defrost coil either from bumping it or from the moisture that resulted in the fridge being off during the repair. When I plugged the fridge back in the GFIC kept kicking off.
The temperatures of the freezer and refrigerator section are well within specification and I have never had to adjust the temperature setting or the air flow in 20 years of operation. The coils are clean and the gaskets seal like new.
So could my short on and short off cycles be either from a defective defrost cycle timer or from a defective defrost thermostat?
Thank you for any and all advice.
Mac
