The ice maker on my fridge consistently freezes up. I've tried thawing it out gently with a hair dryer and it will eventually freeze over. Ice will be produced for a few weeks until it either jams (less likely) or ice grows over the light sensor.

Other notes:
- Temperatures in the ice maker seem correct, around 15f.
- I have moderately hard water
- The fridge is level

Is there anything I can do to fix this short of replacing the ice maker?
