Hi,

3 1/2 years old fridge...
Here is my issue:

Bottom freezer is not cooling enough to keep things frozen.

-Compressor running constantly and very hot (burns skin)
- Fan is spinning fast and constantly
- I cleaned condenser coils
- I tried to unplug it and leave the compressor cool down with a domestic fan on it for 30 minutes, plugged it back and it was running hot 5 minutes later.

Any help would be very appreciated!
Thank you!

Look inside the freezer at the back wall. See if there is any frost visible back there. Sounds like a defrost issue or a sealed system leak/restriction.

Thanks for your help.

There was a little piece of ice on the back wall. I'll post a picture of it.

Thanks again. electric cleaner.jpeg

I'm not sure how technical you are, but you are going to need to pull that back panel and have a look at the frost pattern on the evaporator. I suspect you are low on freon and the frost pattern will be very weak. It's a little bit of a chore to get into that section. The link below is a good video for getting it apart.

Take some pics of what you find back there and post them here please.

If it can help with the diagnosis, a whirlpool technician changed the drain tube for a new redesigned drain tube kit a year ago. The freezer was creating a lot of ice in the bottom of the freezer. Since then, the bottom stays perfectly clear of any ice.

So here is what I saw with the panel removed. I let the ice completely melt down through the drain tube into th drain pan. I used a vaccuum to empty the drain pan. Once everything was dry, I put the panel and hardware back in place and plugged the fridge. I will wait 24 hours tu see if it runs better or not.

Any idea what could be the cause or what to replace?
Thanks again

After some reading on different forums, the frost pattern indicates a major problem...
