So, to start I have no experience or knowledge on refrigerator repair, like usual I just go in and start trying to figure things out - usually with success. Two days ago my trusty side by side garage frig/freezer started acting up - things started to defrost. The fan was running but the compressor was not. I got on the internet and quickly learned how to check the compressor pins and relay for continuity, which both passed. I then took off the panel covering the main board, and flicked all of the relays with my finger. When I plugged the cord back in, a spark flew out from one of them and the compressor kicked in! weird, sometimes pulling a Fonzi works. I then put it all back together and here we are a day later and it is working perfectly. My question is does this sound like a bad connection or a relay going out that I should order? is it possible I fixed it for real? Also, does anyone know if one of these relays works the ice/water dispenser which I am not using? maybe I could just do a transplant..
