Hi there, I am new to this site as a member, your posts have been very helpful, this one has got me stumped. This is a fridge of a friend he has a loaner from me so I have the unit and time is not an issue. The complaint was he had to keep adding (R) to it once and a while. A friend was doing this. I got the unit and found a tap valve was installed. Did a leak test and found a small leak due to the fact that the fridge went down a bunch of steps and was bounced around. Leak repaired and system charged (4.5 oz) per mfg. Initially only pulled vacuum 2 hrs. Ice formed on the suction line but the coils were normal frost pattern. Everything is normal and temps are what they should be, all thermostats are good and check out. The only thing I came up with is possible restriction in dryer or cap tube or over charge. At this time vacuum pump is on it and gonna run all night and most of day tomorrow. Possibility of air trapped cause of all the monkeying around. I know this is long but wanted to give as much info as possible. also running amps are also good. Other then freezing problem everything checks out.
