I bought a new defrost heater, the new one is a single element defrost heater. The one I am replacing is a dual element defrost heater. It is the correct one as GE changed it. However, looks like it will be more complicated than I thought to replace.

I thought I would just have to detach and reattach the new one. The instructions now are that I need a drill and to move crap around due to the suction tube. It doesn't look necessary. But I'm not a repair person. Also, the illustration on the instruction sheet is not for my particular freezer. (The part can go on multiple models.) In fact, I've never used a drill. Has anyone done this?

Plus, the last time I manually defrosted the coils, the freezer didn't rebound like it used to do. It's at 25 degrees now. Maybe it's dying anyway.
