I have a small Sub Zero fridge with a freezer on the bottom, that suddenly got very warm. When I felt under the ice maker, there appears to be some type of heater element and was hot enough to burn my fingers.

I tried cleaning the coils underneath and unplugged and plugged back in. The condenser seems to start up and the freezer seemed to start to get cold and then the motor turned off and the heater on the ice maker got very hot.

The ice maker is not hooked up to water and hasn't been for years.

I tried looking online and the only thing I could find regarding the heater on the ice maker getting hot said to replace the ice maker.

Does this sound like the only option or is there something I could check to determine if the ice maker is actually the problem? Thank you.
