Hi there, every time I walk by my upright freezer the compressor and fan are working. I just replaced the thermostat and this hasn't solved the issue. Is this normal for this type of freezer. The temperature control is set on 4 and the unit now has been running for 24 hours ans still hasn't cut out as far as i can tell. The inside of the freezer is always cold and food never thaws out.

Thanks for any input

The freezer was unplug for the last 6 months, it seems like the fridge is getting a good seal, you can hear the door sealing and after a few seconds the noise of sealing stops. i will have to see if I can get a temperature gauge to get a reading inside the freezer.

Just turned the unit off using the control board, the board was showing 0 and the f was flashing. When i restarted the unit d was flashing.Decided to pop out electronic control board and put it back in, reading on internet this factory resets them. Freezer started fine and control board started up on 1,I'll wait and see if this helps. If this doesn't help could it be the control board or thermistor.I read that the control boards on these systems break easy with power failures.

Is there a way to test the control board to tell for sure it's broken before ordering a new one.

Digital Multi Reader was set to the 200 k ohm setting, tested thermistor at room temperature and recorded 8.3,inserted thermistor in glass of ice water for 5 mins and recorded 31.8. With these readings is the thermistor working properly,if so I guess it has to be the electronic control board.
