I recently posted a question regarding an IF error received after our ice maker had been off for a few days, then turned back on. Your recommendation was to replace the ice maker fan.

After receiving the fan, we realized this is the same part we replaced in May 2015. Rather than install the new fan, we thawed out the old one. The IF error went away, and the ice maker is now working.

We would still like to resolve why the ice maker fan freezes up (and the IF error returns) when the ice maker is off, then turned back on after a few days.

If it makes a difference, when we leave, the ice maker is turned off at the on/off switch, with no adjusting of the metal bar, per operating manual instructions. The ice bin is also emptied.
