The initial problem was the ice maker was creating icicles but indeed still making ice. I happened to catch an appliance repair man servicing a neighbor's ice maker and he popped in for a quick look. He inspected the maker for cracks, found none and said that led him to believe it's the water inlet valve so I ordered a new valve (not yet installed).

In the meantime, the very next day it stopped making ice all together. So most things I read led to believe maybe it was the module. I did the jump test from points T-H to initiate a manual harvest and got nothing so presumed that was definitely the culprit and I ordered a new module.

I just installed that, jumped T-H on the new one and still nothing.

I also jumped L-N to test for ice maker tray fill and get nothing on the old module or NEW one.

I have verified by jumping other points that the maker is getting 120V.

Would a bad water inlet valve prevent manual harvest cycles?

Any insight you could provide would be incredibly appreciated!!

The fill valve will leak by and create icicles because it can't close all the way. Also, the adjustment being too far open will create the same.
The fill valve should be cycling if good and you can hear it cycle. If no sound, then most likely bad.
A stopped up filter will also prevent filling.
As far as not being able to jump it into action, some models have an inline fuse that rarely gets bad. That's not likely the problem since you measure 120 volts.
I would try the new valve as a next step.

Hi.

If you still have water at the dispenser get to the water inlet valve and switch around the plugs( you may need to use a zip tie to hold one of the plugs in place. Then with the door closed press the water lever at the dispenser. If the inlet valve is good the ice maker will fill up. If no water comes in, first check if the ice maker fill tube is not blocked with ice and then replace the inlet valve.

If water fills in, check the ice level optic control. There is a red LED light on the right side next to the on/off switch, make sure the ice maker control is turned on and the LED blinks twice and when you close the flapper door on the left, stays on. If the LED blinks normal, replace the ice maker. If not - change the optic control boards kit.

Good luck. Please keep us posted with the results.

Thank you,

Simon.
