We have determined that thermostat is the cause of our problem, when we opened and installed the new one it appears there has been a design change. the wire leads were stacked on the old one. they are side by side on the new one. how do we know which wire goes where ?

Thank you !

I am assuming this is a two wire thermostat so it does not matter which wire goes to which connector.

If there is a third wire *(white) then that may have to be attached to the body of the thermostat.
