Model Number: arb224rcw Brand: Amana Age: 5 - 10 years
I want to replace the capacitor and relay on the compressor--- the 3 in one that is being replaced has 120v line to it --- if I buy the seperate pieces, is there a lead attachment to tie the 120 line to...... looking at the pics in the puter does not show any leads..... thanks for advise.

Remove the 3n 1 as soon as possible, particularily if the run capacitor was not installed. These units will destroy the start winding in the compressor!
Order the correct factory parts, AP4013414, start device and AP4074064, run capacitor. The original wires to the old start device where blue an white. If the 3 n 1 was used because the compressor would not start with a new, original start device, you probably have a bad compressor.

The 3-in-1 does contains a capacitor--- it is all together -- capacitor and relay. I want to order the seperate units and install but the question is __ is there a lead to these items that will tie to the power line in the harness ?? looking at the photos of the pieces I cannot see a lead for this. I am probably overly concerned about nothing but not sure.... I did do a continuity test on the leads on the compressor and also the three leads against the clean metal of the compressor-- all checked good ... Thanks for your help big guy..... joe |

The parts came today and I installed on the compressor--- results are: the compressor does come online but does not stay on --- runs about 4-6 seconds then cycles off. waits about 10 15 seconds then recycles again..... I will search the database for this -- what do you think ? low freon? thanks for the assistance... hiway26 |

If the syptoms are the same the first time this compressor failed, you probably have varnish buildup in the compressor. Sometimes a oil additive Supco 88 will fix this but takes a pro to put it in which is difficult for these fractional HP compressors, probably not worth fixing. Good fix would be new compressor, but rather pricey.
