Hello,
I just bought a new Maytag fridge. I decided to purchase the water/ice maker line kit and install it. I have everything installed but i just can't find the water shutoff in our rented house...very old basement everything is rigged.

So, my question is: Is it ok for me to install the line and puncture the copper pipe without turning off the main water? I want to do it but i'm worried water will be shooting everywhere. Please advise whether this would happen or not.
