at first check i had no power to defrost timer, compressor or fan. testing the thermostat showed contacts open at room temp. i temporarily jumped out the thermo. and now have power but compressor doesn't run (hums & trips o/v load) which is odd considering that it would have had to been running in order to have got cold enough for the thermostat to have opened in the first place. question is what could have gone wrong with the compressor, its start controller or capacitor, since they have had no power since the thermostat stuck open? what to check? is it possible that the compressor has become stuck after being idol for 24 to 48 hrs.? also thermostat contacts are mechanically open not burned so would not have caused low voltage damage to compressor etc.
i sure could use some expert advice thanks lots
