I have a Frigidaire Gallery French door fridge with external icemaker, and I don't know if it's the fan, or compressor or what, but my fridge is making noise 24/7, minus it getting quiet around the same time every(?) day, for a few minutes, maybe when it's defrosting? I have had a few refrigerators over the years, and have a freezer and small fridge in garage, and all of them are/were quiet most of the time. I replaced my old energy waster fridge to save energy and money, but my electric bill has gone up. I liked my neighbors Gallery fridge that he bought a couple years ago, I have the icemaker in the door, he doesn't, and I am over there often enough to note that his refrigerator can be off for a long periods at a time. It's only me and my wife here, so low usage, and I'm retired and am home a lot - I can't walk into the kitchen any time of the day or night and hear my unit quiet. The kitchen is next to family room and I would fall over if I heard the unit shut off. I get up at night to get a snack and it's on, wake at 5 a.m., it's on, get ready for bed it's on, etc., etc. Like I said, don't know what's running, sometimes noise is louder than others, but 'something' always running. I know if the compressor was running too long I would have problems, but the temp control is fine. I think a lot of times there is a fan or something running in icemaker, i figure it's blowing cold air to make ice in the icemaker that's in the warmer non-freezer section. I had a repairman come out, he spent 2 minutes looking at door seals and a couple of other things, told me to keep inside vents clear, and walked out. Wasted my time. I know newer fridges run longer than older ones, but not 99.9% of the time. I've heard estimates of run times, for these models, from 40-65%, with compressors stopping to run 3-7 times daily, along with fan, but fan should never run more than 5 minutes more. How can I get someone to understand that I have a problem, and bought an energy efficient refrigerator that is costing me $20-$25 more a month than the 15 year old fridge I replaced it with??
