Recently had the defrost switch replaced because the freezer was not defrosting. Once replaced, started to notice that the back panel of the freezer that covers the coils heats up to the point that you can't touch it. When the fan turns back on, hot air blows and starts to defrost some of the items in the freezer. Is it possible that the new defrost switch is causing the heating coil to heat hotter than previously? The defrost timer was not changed. It reads 10h 30 min.

Sounds like you have received a bad defrost thermostat.
It should open at 55 degrees F, killing power to the defrost heater.

It closes at 35 degrees F.

May also be that it is not clipped to the defrost coils in the correct position.
