Hi,

The fridge section is too cold and freezing food. The temp controller has been replaced with no affect on the problem. The flapper door between the freezer and fridge section is working (it is manually adjusted) and I have even blocked off the holes in the flaps with tape.
I had to replace the defrost timer in the past few weeks also. Any connection?

Controlls are currently set to '1' for the fridge and '8' for the freezer. I have to manually shut off the fridge to keep it from ruining the food.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
walt

Here are your parts
Parts for GE TFX25NRDAWW Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com

I looked up the operators manual for this unit and it shows that the higher the number the colder the compartment.

I would reduce the freezer setting to around 4.
After 24 hours check it with a thermometer. It should be between 0 and 5 degrees F.
Also the compressor should be cycling to maintain this temperature.
Not fast cycles.
Also depending how much food is in the freezer it may even take longer than 24 hours to reach an equilibrium temperature.

Make sure the vent lower down in the wall between the compartments is clear on both sides. This is required for proper air flow in the unit.

Make sure that the evaporator/freezer fan is running OK when the compressor is on. Again you need proper air flow for proper temperature regulation.

Thanks for your reply.

I had the temp settings set on '8' for the freezer and '1' for the fridge section so that less cold air from the freezer gets into the fridge.

The freezer control just moves the 'flap' controlling the air flow from freezer to fridge sections, right? And the fridge controller has the thermostat on it? Just trying to get which one really controls the temperatures in the refrigerator.

Is there a temp sensor in the freezer also? And what uses that as a controller?

Thanks for your help. I've been fighting this for a month now and REALLY need to figure this out.

Correct

In reality they work together.
The fresh food does control the compressor which actually does the cooling.

No
