Model Number: msd2756gew Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
Hello, I have a Maytag side by side refridgerator. The fridge is warm, checked freezer coil, massive ice build up. Defrosted with hair dryer, fan is working, heater coil ohms out/not open. tried jumping sensor, also opening sensor lead, coil did not heat up. This Maytag has an "adaptive defrosting system" ? Looks like by the diagram there is a small board near the controls in the fridge section. What commonly goes bad with these?

Replacement parts for MAYTAG MSD2756GEW | AppliancePartsPros.com Here is a service manual http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16010154.pdf tried jumping sensor, also opening sensor lead, coil did not heat up. Not sure what this means. If you are referring to the defrost thermostat, it should be 0 ohms when frozen. Note: that it opens just above freezing. Sometimes when they go, you can actually see that they have bulged out. What commonly goes bad with these? The adaptive defrost boards usually just do not start a defrost cycle, I am not sure whether it is the electronic timer or the relay/triac as it is just a replacement part. See Page 2-15 in the manual.
