I noticed my GE Fridge Part # PSS26LGRB ice maker was not making ice any more. It has water in the tray maker. I pulled the evaporator front cover off (#213) and there was ice/frost build-up on the entire unit, but not a lot towards the top, most was on the bottom. I noticed on the cover there were frozen droplets on the cover near the bottom. I thawed all of this by turning the unit off for about 4 hours. When I turned it back on the refrigerator side fan ran and pretty much never stopped. I took that assembly apart and noticed the damper in it appeared to be stuck. I pushed it in some with a pencil and it seemed to be hanging up on something but it stayed open. I plugged it all back in and the fan is still running after about 24 hours + and up until about 24 hours there was still water in the ice tray. Now there appears to be ice, but nothing dumping in the ice bin and the fan is still running. Now there are frozen ice droplets from top to bottom on the evaporator front cover. I have not pulled it back off to see if there was more frost build up on the coils. There is air blowing on the ref side so it appears that the damper is still open but perhaps it is not being controlled because it is stuck open now? Would this cause no ice? What else am I missing?
Thanks in advance for your help!!
