This is a Whirlpool with bottom freezer. The ice maker is in the fridge portion at the top. It started about 10 days ago: ice maker slowed/quit making ice and the refrigerator warmed up. Fridge temp would cool to about 38 - 40 degrees and then go up to low 50's, then cool down to around 40. Freezer is working good at 0 degrees. Had a tech come out, he did his thing and replaced the air baffle. No help.
I did some checking: air baffle opens but air flow is slow to me. Also the scroll? fan for the ice maker is running. So I checked the evaporator and it only had a little frost on each end so assuming defroster is working and the fan was running good.
Just guessing here, but a couple of days after this started I had a large cup of ice water and some time later found a piece of red plastic like might be a plastic bottle cap seal, kinda sorta, didn't pay much attention at the time. Later after I threw it away that maybe it came out of the ice maker and part of a air tube seal between the freezer and fridge. No sure how that is all set up, what they use for a seal, and if maybe there is a spacer between the boxes. I used a mirror and tried to look up the tube from the freezer and the way the tube is made it is very hard to see but I think I can see a sliver of red up there. Is there a possibility that a seal could be blocking some of the air flow? Thanks for any reply!
