Default Leaking ice maker tube on gsc25c6eyy01 Fridge

Hi-
I have whirlpool gold gsc25c6eyy01, side by side fridge/freezer.

there is a tube at the bottom left side (freezer side) that is leaking. I turned off the water line and ice maker and it stopped leaking. Not sure which one it is exactly, but the repair man said he thinks it's the ice maker based on the position and size. it's the very front tube behind the grille/door flap. I can see there is a hairline cut in the tube that is leaking. we tried to put a sealant on it, but that didn't stop the leak. We had a repair man come out and he said he can't do anything about it and to fix I need a whole new door.

I came across this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZTJKnTsGfs (different fridge) but same issues about the tube glued into the door with no access. again, I think my ice tube is leaking instead of the water tube.

is this fixable like the water tube? Any help would be appreciated! thanks!

Hello, I'm not 100% sure where the leak you're describing is, but I can advise you that both the IM feed tube and the water dispenser tube are replaceable.

With that said it is a rather major job. Both water lines going up through the hinge have to be removed from the quick connect fittings at the bottom of the refrig. If your model has two wiring harnesses going into the door they will have to be disconnected also. These items will be accessible once the kickplate has been removed.

You'll need to remove the icebucket, the cover around the icebucket, and the Icemaker from the door, if the line that's leaking is the IM supply line. The fountain control panel will then need to be unsnapped and swung out of the way. The release tabs are hard to see so you'll need a flashlight, bend over and look up and you should be able to see them.

Behind the fountain controls you'll see the fountain feed water line if that's the one that's leaking. You can unhook it and it will pull up through the door. You may want to tie a string on the end coming up through the hinge to assist in pulling the new one through if that's the one that is leaking.

If it's the IM hose that's leaking, you'll see two heavy blue wires in the same area as the fountain fill tube. It has a connector on it that will need to be disconnected. It's part of a heater that attaches to the IM fill line that will pull out from the top where the fill tube for the IM comes through the liner. Again a string attached to the wiring and fill line before pulling it out will probably be beneficial.

Paying very close attention or taking photo's might be a very good idea. This is a difficult job and a spare set of hands would certainly help. I'm sure I missed a connector here or there in my above description but they should be self explanatory. Be prepared to spend quite sometime doing this repair. Good luck.

thank you for the reply. Sounds like a complicated job.

Do you have any contacts/repair shops in the Los Angeles area that you recommend that could do this?

Sorry, but that isn't really something I'm going to have knowledge of. I'm sure there are plenty to choose from but I'm not in that part of the country and really wouldn't be able to give a good recommendation.

I've always suggested to customers to ask family or friends that you may have in the area to see if they know of someone that they've had a good experience with. Sorry I can't be much help with that piece for you.
