For about the past week, I have been having issues with my Kitchenaid side by side refrigerator's ice maker. The symptoms started with no ice production. I removed and disassembled the ice maker to see if I could find anything obvious. I found nothing. I reassembled and reinstalled the ice maker. This time, it actually produced ice but would not eject it from the tray. I also noticed that it had leaked water all down the from of the freezer and onto the floor. I removed the ice from the tray and after a while, it did the same thing again. Produced ice, but could not eject it and again leaked water. After looking at the ice cubes in the tray, I've determined that it is trying to add water to the tray before the existing ice in the tray is ejected. As a side note, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the optical sensor light on the right side of the freezer. Sometimes it works normally, with two blinking lights and a solid light when the flapper is pushed back. Other times, I get no lights at all. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
