I just purchased a new 19.7 chest freezer with the fancy digital readouts. I can set the temperature control and the freezer does go to that temp as confirmed by 2 thermometers which I placed inside. The problem is that the temperature readout only reflects the set temperature, not the actual temperature of the freezer. Been playing with this for days to verify this problem. At first I thought that gee.. maybe it isn't supposed to reflect the internal temperature (sure different than a 20 yr old freezer) but literature states: One quick glance allows you to monitor the temperature and operating status for peace of mind and efficiency. Duh !! Tried taking out the battery, and replacing it that didn't help. All the other bells and whistles on the display seem to work -- battery out, high temp alarm etc lock symbols, etc.. Of course, haven't gotten a return phone call from the dealer. Don't want to screw things up by playing with the controls too much since it is keeping the food frozen at the moment.
