I have an electrolux EW26SS65GS0 that I have been limping along. I have changed the main control board under the fridge, the screen, and it seemed to be working well, but now the evaporator gets covered in frost and I have to grab a hair dryer, take out the three shelves, unscrew the 5 bolts and thaw the coil with a hairdryer before my ice starts to drip on my head. Although this seems fun to do every 3 weeks, I am getting tired and am looking for a fix. I tried looking for continuity in the element and it does have continuity, checked for a bad connection and they are all good. This is a recent problem that came about after I changed the control screen.

See the attachment for the tech sheet. Remove the cover so you can get at the evaporator coils. Force a defrost cycle, see the tech sheet. Note that the coils must be frosted/iced over as the defrost thermostat opens just above freezing. Check that the heating element comes on. Be careful that you do not burn your fingers. If it comes on then the problem is probably with the control board. If it does not come on. Unplug the unit. Check the defrost heater, should be around 30 ohms. Check the defrost thermostat, should be 0 ohms when frozen. Note that if it is bulged/deformed replace it even if it measures OK. If both the above are OK I would check the wiring at the control board perhaps this is where the problem is since you just replaced the board. J1-11 to Neutral should be 30 ohms. If all OK then odds are that the control board is bad, |
