Hello,

My Amana refrigerator sometimes stops cooling because the compressor does not start. I hear a "buzz" sound from the compressor which lasts for 1 to 2 seconds, followed by a metalic click, and the compressor does not start. This cycle repeats again after a few minutes. Eventually, the compressor does start, but this may take 24 hours or more. Then, the unit will work normally for several weeks.

I have replaced the "start unit" and capacitor, but this did not help.

Although the unit is working now, the situation is really not acceptable, as we have no confidence that it will continue to operate. My tentative conclusion is that there is a fault within the compressor, which likely means replacing the refrigerator, but I'm hoping for other suggestions.
