Default Evaporator Fan Wiring?
Model Number: # LRBN2251*** or # LRBC2252***   Brand: -other-   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Hi,

I have an LG refrigerator. It's either model # LRBN2251*** or # LRBC2252*** (I'm not sure which model because there is no labeling in or on the refrigerator, and it came with an
energyguide tag with both models on it.)

I'm almost sure this is a question about the evaporator fan.

I'm replacing the refrigerator fan (without the standard snap-on connection). The fan is located in the freezer section, behind the back wall. This is the fan that sends cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator.

I need to know which wires need to be connected from the fan to the
refrigerator?

The fan has 3 wires with the following colors: Grey, Pink, and White.

The snap-on connection wires on the refrigerator are: Grey, White, and Purple. That's going right to left with the snap lock in the top position (bird's eye view) making the White the center wire.

The old wire harness/snap-on connection has wires: Purple, Red, and Black, making the Red wire the center wire, also going right to left, with the snap lock on top (bird's eye view).

I would like to connect the wires from the new fan to the old snap-on connection wires.

I do not have the old fan to match the wiring. This is the way I received the refrigerator...

The refrigerator came with the old harness /snap-on connector connected to the new fan.

The fan wires were connected to the old harness in the following order...

Fan: Gray, Pink, White...
Old Snap-On harness: Black, Red, Purple.

(Red to Pink would be the center, Gray to Black on the left, and Purple to White on the right.) That would be with the snap lock
of the snap-on connection from the top point of view.

I was told this connection didn't make the refrigerator cold enough and the fan was probably blowing backwards. But the freezer was still running fine.

My question again, is..

I need to know which wires need to be connected from the new fan to the refrigerator?

I would actually like to connect the wires from the new fan to the old snap-on connection wires. Then just snap that to the refrigerator snap-on connection.

I redid the wiring, right now I have the new fan wired to the old snap-on connection as...

Fan: Gray -to- SO: Black -to- Refrigerator: Gray
Fan: White -to- SO: Red (Center) -to- Refrigerator: White
Fan: Pink -to- SO: Purple -to- Refrigerator: Purple

Or a little bit less confusing...

Fan: Gray -to- Refrigerator: Gray
Fan: White -to- Refrigerator: White (Center)
Fan: Pink -to- Refrigerator: Purple

Will this work?

Thanks,
Jeff

UPDATE:

I tried plugging in the refrigerator with the wiring:

Fan: Gray -to- Refrigerator: Gray
Fan: White -to- Refrigerator: White (Center)
Fan: Pink -to- Refrigerator: Purple

The fan is not spinning at all. The refrigerator has been plugged in for a little while, maybe 2 to 3 hours.

If the wiring is correct what else can it be?

Also, the compressor and fan in the rear are working.

Thanks again,
Jeff
