Exclamation Frig & Freezer not cold enough
Model Number: ED5CHQXKQ01   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

I purchased a rarely used side-by-side nearly 3-yrs ago when we moved into our rental home, from the previous owners. It worked fantastic until the end of April. The icemaker stopped working and then the freezer stopped freezing. For the past few months we have been using the freezer side as our refrigerator. I really need some help & don't have the $200-$600 for a repair man or, even worse, a new refrigerator.

So far I have:
1) Checked temp setting.
freezer setting 1/2 way & frig setting at max.
2) Made enough room for air flow in frig & freezer.
3) Checked & cleaned vents in frig & freezer.
4) Tested the temp controls.
multitester same reading on warmest & coldest settings...is this correct?
5) Cleaned the condensor coils.
Done once at the end of April & about a month later (never cleaned?)
6) Checked the door seals.
7) Tested the door switches.
8) Checked for clogged drain tube.
9) Compressor & condensor fans appear to be working & cycle on & off.
10) Did not notice a refrigerant leak.
11) No ice build up or water in the bottom of the freezer.

From what I have read on several internet sites, I have checked nearly everything except for the compressor relay. We have a lot of brown & black outs in Southern CA & one repair man, over the phone, told me that the relay could be bad or freon needed to be charged. Could this be my problem or the temp controls, since I am receiving the same readings?
