Ice & Water turn off delayed 3-5 sec

Model Number: TFX25JRBBA Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years

When we get ice or water from the in-the-door dispensor the switch will not turn off ice or water for a delay of 3-5 seconds...enough to overfill & spill. I suspect the switch needs to be replaced but how do I get into the door to replace it?
