Hello

I am trying to repair an old Canadian Westinghouse freezer for a friend. The model is CA08JW. It would not turn on but the pilot light in the lid lights up. I did a continuity check on the cold control and there is no continuity at any setting. I removed the control, shorted the plug and the freezer turned on. It quickly got cold. I am having trouble finding this part or an equivalent. I wonder if anyone can advise me.

The numbers written on the cutler-Hammer control are as follows:

83-29
141439
Bul. No. 9530N884
Volts AC 125-250
Amps FL 16 8
Amps LR 80 40
Cutler-Hammer

Now I should say that I've ordered and received a part which was supposed to replace the above but is physically incorrect. The seemingly incorrect part is: K50-1271 or K50-P1271. On the box it say "replaces DR1271".
The orientation of the control is different as is the connector which does not match (the 2 blades are vertical instead of horizontal and are offset from each other as well). If I knew if this replacement was electrically the same, I could modify the plug but would prefer the proper part of course.

I am including a photo which I took of the control.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Richard
