The freezer and refrigerator in my GE Arctica Profile is not cooling. The freezer temperature is slowly rising and the refrigerator temperature is rising with the rising freezer temperature. I replaced the motherboard about 5 years ago. I pulled the motherboard today and the solder joints look good, including at the compressor relay. The fan is running and the compressor is hot to the touch.

To add some additional information, I let it run overnight with all of the food removed. The freezer is holding at 17 F (set at 0 F) and the refrigerator is holding at 42 F (set at 37 F). I pulled the back panel in the freezer and the coils are not caked in ice, but they are covered in a good coating of frost. The fan is constantly running and the compressor must be working if freezer/refrigerator is holding to a temperature.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Chris.

If the refrigerator is running constantly, you have a bad compressor/refrigerant leak. Gauges and amprobe would confirm.

Thanks for good information. I checked out the thermistors, defroster, defroster timer, etc. today and they all checked out good. Thus, I came to the conclusion that it could be the compressor. You confirmed my suspicions. At 11 years old, I guess it is time for a new refrigerator. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I was concerned that I missed something, but you confirming my suspicions has put my mind a ease. Thanks again!!!!
