Ice-maker not getting water
Model Number: CSX25GRBBWW Brand: Hotpoint Age: 5 - 10 years
Hello all,
I hope somebody can provide some insight to my predicament. I just bought a house, and the fridge was left for me. I noticed soon after moving in that the ice-maker (mechanical style) wasn't producing ice.
First, I checked the water dispenser, and water came out... so there is water getting to the fridge. Next, I jump-started the ice-maker by pulling on the rake arm. The cycle completed, but no water ran in. I thought that either the inlet valve was bad, or the water line in the freezer was frozen or clogged.
I got to the inlet valve (GE P/N AP2071724), and switched the electrical quick-connectors so that the water dispensing wires were going to the ice-maker part of the valve. I pressed the water dispensing button, and bingo - water went to the ice-maker. I switched it back to normal, jump-started the ice-maker again, and still no water came through. This tells me that the valve itself in-fact works fine, but there is no electrical signal telling it to let water through at the appropriate times.
So what do I do from here? What sends an electrical signal to the ice-maker end of the inlet valve? The ice-maker itself?
Any advice anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
